My Little Slugger...

Here are pictures of Shep's first T-Ball practice! He is on the same team with one of his best buddies, Cole. (He and Cole have been friends since birth...they were both born on the same day). They both did a fabulous job today! It was cute to watch!

Fun with Daddy on his day off...

Cody is such a fabulous Daddy! Thank you, Jesus for the wonderful husband and father that he is; we are so blessed. He never spends any of his days off doing what he wants to do; all he ever wants to do is "spend it with the kids". This is an example of a typical day off with Daddy....this was our day today...
  • Cody went and had lunch with Hud as school. As you can see from the pic, they were both so excited! (I stayed home and played Dinosaurs with Shep while Cody had special one on one time at lunch with Hud).

  • Cody then came home to teach Shep a little about the game of T-Ball in our front yard. (His first T-Ball practice is tomorrow morning).
  • We went to pick up Hud from school and then came home to a surprise from Cody....brand new fishing poles! As you can tell from the pictures, who needs a lake to go fishing?? We named this, "STREET FISHING". Just use your imagination! Have you guys ever tried to go fishing in your neighborhood street? It was a total blast. The boys were out there for hours learning how to cast a line. It was the best $12 we ever spent.

  • We then took the boys to a cooking birthday party....we so miss our old neighbors!

  • Then we completed the evening by stopping off at a local fishing pond to test out the new fishing poles....my, they work better with hot dogs as bait and a little water!

Thank you, Cody for being the World's Best Daddy...they are so blessed to have you!

Going on an Acorn Hunt!

We have discovered a fun little tradtion in our neighborhood. After our snack and homework time, we run to the pantry, grab our zip lock baggies and rush outside for our Acorn Hunt! It has turned into a nightly event that lasts for about an hour. The boys try to see who will gather the most acorns and then we come home to count them (sneaking in a little math here...). I just love this one on one time with my boys.

He likes his teacher... A LOT!

Apparently, Hudson really likes his new teacher! (Thank you, Jesus!) He wanted to give his teacher a gift, so picked out a new book that I had purchased and chose one for her. He then spent the next 30 minutes drawing a pretty picture of her surrounded by flowers inside the jacket cover. I have to say that I was a little jealous. Even though my little man picks me flowers, he has never drawn ME flowers! Wowzah! If you know Hud, you know he does NOT like to color or draw. He has never sat down willingly "just to draw and color". I am already impressed with his teacher if she can make him do this!

My Super Reader!

I am so proud of Hudson! He got in the car today after school and said that Ms. Horn was so proud of him! I said "Of course she is! What did you do to make her tell you that?". He said that Ms. Horn asked for volunteers to come up at Reading Time and read a book to their friends in class. He brought a book from home, "Fish Gift" and read it outloud to his classmates. Ms. Horn told him that he did a good job. As a Mom (and former Reading Teacher), I was busting every button on my shirt because he was an early reader, starting at the age of 4. Proud of my Baby!

"Ms. Horn, my back is on fire!"

"Ms. Horn, my back is on fire!" Well, Hudson's 2nd day of school was just as exciting as his first! I recieved a call from the school saying that I needed to come up the school. My heart sank thinking, "Oh my gosh, it is only the 2nd day of school and I am already getting called!" Apparently, Hudson was at recess with his class and his teacher, Ms. Horn told a few of the classmates to take a break and go sit in shade under a tree. A few minutes later, Hudson walked over to his teacher and said, " Ms. Horn, my back is on fire!!". She lifted his shirt to see hundreds of red fire ants crawling all over his back! (He apprantly sat down right in the middle of a huge ant pile). She immediately took off his shirt and dusted him off but it was too late, they had bitten him all over front and back.
Poor little guy. The school nurse checked him out and said that I needed to come pick him up, take him home, give him Benedryl and put him to bed. Hudson wanted to stay in school and was upset that he had to go home at noon. But, the good thing is that he did get to stay for lunch and use his new kitchen pass today before he went to recess!

"Kitchen Pass" - Hud's first Cafeteria Experience!

Well after all of the excitement Hudson had yesterday at school in "the kitchen" we had to start his 2nd day of school of right by buying him a "kitchen pass". So, we got up early and got him his very own cafeteria number with an alloted amount of money to buy his lunches. He wanted to know all about "how it worked". So, I stayed with him and showed him where the trays and silverware were located. I then showed him how to go through the lunch line and get your food. Even though he already had breakfast, he had to go through the breakfast line with me to see how it all worked. We meet "Ms. Louise", the lunch lady and he thanked her for the yummy breakfast and then proceeded to checkout with our new ID number. He was so excited! I of course was the big dork Mom with the camera capturing it all on film....it was a momentous occasion, how could I not? It was "The Kitchen", after all!

Picking Up Hud from 1st day of Kindergarten....

Hudson is such a riot!...I just love him so much; he cracks me up!
Let me tell you why...

Shep and I were so anxious to pick Hud up from his first day of Kindergarten. We waited in the carpool line for 30 minutes and finally the moment arrives, Hudson runs to the car with a huge grin on his face. I am relieved, it looks like he has enjoyed his first day. He gets in the car and I ask him to tell me all about his first day. He says, "Mom, you know what? My school has a KITCHEN!!! Did you know that you can walk through line, tell them what you want, they give you free food and then they tell you to "move on".!" He is just so excited that he can barely contain himself. He then says, "Mom, I don't want you to pack my lunch anymore, ok?"

I proceeded to ask him if he liked his teacher, if he made any friends, what they did in school, at recess, etc...and all of those questions were ignored and each time he repeated by telling me how the kitchen was THE COOLEST thing that happened at school today. Man, had I known that he would have gotten so excited over cafeteria food, Cody and I would have taken him to Luby's a long time ago!

First Day of Kindergarten!

Well, I didn't think I would cry on his first day. I am not a big crier. I told myself that Hud was ready for school so there was no need for me to get all sentimental. Well, my brave little man proved me wrong.

Cody, Shep and I were walking Hud into school. He turns around and puts up his hand to stop us and says, "Now stop! You guys stay here. I know where I am going and I can walk all by myself". Now, I expected that reaction on maybe day two or three but not on the first day of school! I leaned down to him and said, "Hud, can't Mommy walk you into school on the first day?" And he said, "Mommy, don't worry, I will always be your baby". Ok...now picture my eyes welling up with tears. The flood gates are starting to open at this point and I push the tears back before I blubber like an idiot before all of the other parents. He is so independent. Thank you, Jesus for my strong little man!
