Our first Valentines Dance! :)

I must say, I don't know who was more excited, Hudson or myself! Tonight was our very first elementary Valentine dance! We both got all dressed up to go out on our Mommy-Hudson date night! He was such a little gentleman and even picked me a yellow daffodil in our front yard as we walked out the front door! We went and had dinner at Scotty P's and split a chicken dinner. He was so cute sharing his dinner with me and holding my hand throughout the night. He was too exited to eat much so we rushed over to the school at 7:00pm sharp.....it was packed with a line out the door! Hudson said he had been practicing his dances in PE and couldn't wait to go and show me his new moves. We danced the YMCA, the car wash, the electric slide, Thriller and many more! Hudson loved the car wash song and continued to incorporate the "wash" hand motions into every dance song thereafter....too funny to watch! I guess that I boogied a little too much because I noticed at the end of the night that my cell phone had fallen out of my pocket. I was devastated because that is my life line when Cody travels out of town. Hudson and I searched and searched everywhere for my phone. We finally gave up and came home to find that some sweet little girl found my phone at the dance and she and her Daddypersonally delivered it to our house (they only lived one street over from us, luckily). Thank goodness there are still sweet and caring people out there. My entire evening was such a blessing. I wouldn't trade my date day for all of the money in the world! :)

Shep's Valentine Day Party

I had the pleasure of going to Shep's Valentine Party at school! Each child got to pass out valentines and fill their buckets up with cards and treats. They were treated to pizza, juice and cupcakes. The Mom's were presented with a beautiful framed pictures of our little sweethearts. Shep's picture turned out fantastic; I just love it! When we got home, Hudson and Shep devoured the entire bucket of candy while I was cooking dinner, unbeknowest to me. This, in turn, created two VERY HYPER children!!! So, I ended up taking them outside for a night jogging adventure to run out their energy! We ran for a good 30 minutes and then came back to a nice warm bath and bedtime. Luckily, we get to repeat this tomorrow because Hudson will have his party tomorrow at school and bring home all of his goodies to eat. I hope to beat them to their stash and not let them eat it all in one sitting!

Donuts with Dad!

Shep's Preschool Class had it's annual "Donuts with Dad". Cody could not have been a more proud Dad! He got to take Shep into school, where they were serenaded with a song for Dads and treated to donut holes and juice. The pictures of all the Dads were proudly displayed on the bulletin board for all to see. Shep made Dad a hand print and filled out a questionnaire of Cody. It said "My Dad is 50 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds. He favorite food is hot sauce. He likes to play football and watch football. His favorite place to take me is Chik-fil-A".

Tornado.....Texas Style!

This picture says it all.....it is in the middle of the night, we are all sound asleep and snug in our bed and the winds and rain start to stir louder outside our window. All of a sudden, we hear "Big Brother" come on the loud city speaker and announce "This is not a test, there has been a tornado spotted in your area, please take shelter immediately. I repeat, this is NOT a test.".

If you live in Texas, we have these little episodes once a year, probably. Me, having been in a serious tornado in college take these things very seriously. Cody runs to turn on the radio and TV and see that the tornado is within 10 miles of us. We run upstairs, get the boys and our dog Levi is having a major anxiety attack and sticking to us like glue. We pull everything out of our downstairs closet underneath our stairs and sit and wait out the storm. The funny thing is that the boys slept through the entire thing and never once woke up (as you can see from the picture). Luckily, we didn't see the effects of the tornado, thank you, Lord! But, the picture is priceless and quite funny, now that I look back on it all.

February 5th, Mom's 39th Birthday!

I am so blessed! I had the best birthday I could have possibly wished for! I woke up and my 2 precious boys ran in with so much glee singing Happy Birthday to me! Cody had already left for work at 6 am and left a bouquet of flowers and sushi in the fridge for lunch! Shep came running in with Cody's bouquet of flowers and began singing to me. He then ran back out and came back in with a little card in which he drew a picture of he and I....I am so proud of it. Then Hudson ran out and came back in with a stapler that he had found in Cody's desk and he put a smiley face on it with a permanent marker. He was so proud of his gift! I will treasure that stapler forever. Those are such priceless gifts to me and better than any store bought because they were made with love. Katy made my day complete by making me a homemade chocolate cake; which we all devoured. Thank you God for letting me live a wonderful 39 years and I pray that you will let me live 39 and even more!

Sunny Day at the Park...

My buddy, Dana came down to visit with us this weekend. It is so hard to believe that we have been friends since college (for those of you who are doing the math; we have been friends for 20 years, unbelieveable!). We decided to take advantage of this beautiful weather today and take the boys to the park in McKinney It was snowing and icy on Tuesday and now 4 days later it is beautiful and 70 degrees outside. Cody is out of town in New York and I feel a little guilty taking advantage of such beautiful weather knowing that it is 9 degrees where he is and he is snowed under, literally!
We walked around the park while the boys rode their bikes. We discovered a Nature Hiking Trail that is about a mile long in the woods. We explored and had a great time making many discoveries along the way. We discovered a "labryinth" in the middle of the woods. I had no idea what it was but Dana did. It is apparently a place for meditation and prayer. You start walking from the outer circle and follow an amazing path of bricks that zig zags and winds you around to the middle (you are suppose to be praying as you walk). It was fun to do and I learned a little something along the way..... We ended up walking/biking for about 2 and a half hours; it was a lot of fun. We will definitely have to take Cody there when he comes back home.
